Project Launch Meeting 15th February 2016

The project was launched at a meeting on 15th February in the Ballroom at the Fishpond Matlock Bath. It was attended by over 50 businesses, residents and organisations all with a stakeholder interest in Matlock Bath. They heard the Chairman of the Steering Group, Andrew Pugh of The Heights of Abraham, introduce the project and say how important it was to the village as we have to ‘up our game’ to compete in the demanding world that is 21st century tourism. He also pointed out how lucky the village is to have enlisted the services of Derby University.

Dr Sarah Rawlinson, Head of the Faculty at the University, then introduced some of the students who will be carrying out the project and outlined in a presentation - assisted by the students - what they will be doing. Her presentation is attached below. The stakeholders present were then able to ask questions.

The Chairman then introduced Richard Senior, General Manager and Co-Director of The New Bath Hotel and Spa, who gave a presentation on the renovation work being carried out at the hotel. This is also attached below.

The event was covered for television by BBC East Midlands Today. We are grateful to the Fishpond, Mel Richardson and the Friends of Matlock Bath for the hospitality and refreshments.
