Grant Policy

Parish Councils can provide local organisations with financial assistance by awarding grants. Each year a small budget is allocated for grants. There are strict rules as to what a grant can be used for. For example, a grant could not be used to pay salaries or for running costs. Matlock Bath Parish Council established criteria by which a grant application is assessed. Procedures include an explanation of the grant awarding process and an application form. As the Parish Council is receiving more applications for grants, it is imperative that all applicants submit their application form as soon as possible. Two deadline dates of 13th April and 13th October are set by which applications should be received. For example, if your grant was required for an activity for Christmas, your application should be received no later than 13th October. This then allows the Parish Council to prioritise applications and to manage their small budget for grants more effectively.

Applicants should not assume that a grant will be awarded by Matlock Bath Parish Council each year and should not be relied upon. The Parish Council has to be fair to all applications and judge them on their own merits and against the criteria as listed in the policy attached.
